What we do

Responding to Emergencies (click on the bold text to go direct to the named pages)

We carry out partnership work with the Scottish Ambulance service and the GoodSAM medical dispatching app to provide care in life threatening emergencies until the ambulance arrives.

Each volunteer responder is equipped with lifesaving equipment including an AED; an Automated External Defibrillator which is also known as a Public Access Defibrillator (PAD). They are despatched by the Scottish Ambulance Service control to life threatening emergencies (category A calls)

The Community First Responders arrive on scene first and can deliver lifesaving treatment before the arrival of the ambulance. They form a vital link in the Chain of Survival which is well proven to dramatically increase a casualty's chances of survival from heart attack and cardiac arrest in particular

Other work we do

ENFR does more than respond to emergencies!

We work with local communities to install public access defibrillators, we provide community First Aid training, First Aid event cover and health awareness

We are also in partnership with GoodSAM (a mobile phone app used to assist during life threatening emergencies), and are running a Schools Lifesaver Project.

East Neuk First Responders covers the area known as the East Neuk of Fife; an area that extends from Kingsbarns and Elie along the coast and inland to Largoward, the KY10 and KY9 postcode areas.

Anyone who lives in the area can get involved with East Neuk First Responders, whether it's to be a volunteer responder, or to help with other vital tasks such as fundraising, training or administration. Volunteers do not need first aid experience to join, as full training will be provided; however becoming a responder is subject to an interview process.
